Wallpaper?

I wish I and a dollar for every time a client I showing a home to cringes when we walk into a room with wallpaper. Any wallpaper. Especially dated wallpaper. You know, patterns that bring back childhood memories. Wallpaper has been out of fashion now for years…no make that decades! But just like bell bottom jeans, everything eventually comes back into style.
Wallpaper is back. Offering more drama than paint, it’s a fun way to transform a room and reflect one’s personal style. Many designers liken it to contemporary art for the mass market. Whatever.
I can tell you I am seeing more and more wallpaper used by model home designers in new build developments in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch. They are all in.
What’s caused the big comeback? Bloggers, HGTV Pinterest and the millennials who rebel to whatever is the norm. Or just my bell bottom jeans theory which I am sticking to.
This is scary…Sherwin-Williams is all in. They are planning to release More C of wallcoverings this year, putting its total catalogue at more than 100,000 options. Really? Those numbers aren’t exactly comforting for folks who are already overwhelmed by all the patterns, textures, fabrics and materials to choose from.
From the responses I see from my buyers, this fad may come and go quickly.
The good news is the days of scraping and steaming are overdue advancements of today’s adhesive. Something future home buyers.
So next time I show you a home with wallpaper, we now know the sellers are not designer challenged. They are trend-setters.

The Journey Begins

It’s the mindset that makes us successful at what we do. In order to give my clients the best service a Realtor can offer, I use motivation to stay on top of my game. Here are a few quotes from really smart dead guys who stayed focused and motivated and, well, are famous.
